These are two examples of photo montages. "Photo montage is the process and result of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture was sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print."
In my work i have gone to Roberts park and taken picture after picture of the surrounding environment, i have then put them together on planes to create the surrounding environment in my work, i have used a montage style of art to do this. Below is a picture of how i have done this.

These are some of my sketches that i have done there is a perspective some sketches of lion and Roberts park and there is a mood board of saltaire. There is also a few ideas for the logo for a temporary team name we had before we decided on red hawk for the name.

Reflection Questions
·       What did you do and how did you do it?
I designed 4 different GUI's (Graphical User Interface) i sketched the first 2, the 3rd one i made on Photoshop and the 4th i made in flash. i tried to create a different looking one every time i made one to experiment which was the best.
·       Does your final design meet your original intentions?
My final design does meet my original intentions as my intention was to make different designs and try make them all look quite different and i think they all look pretty different.
·       Self evaluation – how did you manage your time? How could you manage your time more effectively?
I managed my time by i had 3 weeks to make the 4 GUIs so one week i did the sketch ones, then the next week i made a GUI on Photoshop and then the final week of the three made a GUI on flash.
·       What did you struggle with? E.g. sketches, flash, photoshop
didn't struggle with much of the aspects as i am comfortable with my sketches and i am also comfortable using flash and Photoshop.
If i was to choose which one i found the hardest i would say flash as  it is the program that i am less comfortable with.
·       What did you find easy?
I found most of the aspects of the work generally simple, i think the hardest part of the task was coming up with different ideas.
·       How does your finished design compare to professional examples?
My finished design is not as good as professional examples as it is simplified where as some guis are more complex and have different layers that pop out when you press certain buttons.
·       What do other people think of your finished design?
Other people think my work is quite good, one student called Lewis Corcoran gave my work 4.5 stars out of 5. He said he thought my work was of high standard.
·       What could you improve upon?
If i was to improve on anything then i would try put more detail into my sketches as i feel that that is my weakest area.
·       If you were to do it again what would you do differently next time?
If i was to do it again I don't think i would do much differently as overall i am generally happy with my end product and final work. I would maybe put a bit more detail into the sketches but apart from that i feel i have done the best to my ability.
·       It’s not about the finished product, it’s about the journey. What did you learn?
didn't really learn so much doing this task as i knew most things about guis as i play games quite a lot and i knew how to use most of the software. If there was one thing i did learn it would be that sometimes simple guis are sometimes the best even if they don't have a lot you can do on them for example the fifa 12 GUI.

Reflection Questions.

·       What did you do and how did you do it?

I made a environment of Roberts Park, I started by making the bandstand and then i just kept on building around it. I applied many different textures and tried to make it look realistic. Afterwards the textures around the edge of the environment didn’t look very good so i tried to add some fog to make it look a bit better. I also attempted to model a lion and make it look like the Saltaire lions outside salts and exhibition buildings.

·       Does your final design meet your original intentions?

My final design differed slightly from my original intentions as i was only originally meant to be making a lion and a bandstand but i expanded and made all of Roberts park.

·       Self evaluation – how did you manage your time? How could you manage your time more effectively?

I felt i managed my time well under the circumstances, i felt that the layout of the year was slightly strange as we had only a few weeks to make and model our final trailers and we spent the first half of the year doing PowerPoint’s, i felt we could have done the PowerPoint’s throughout the year when we didn’t have access to 3d max like on Thursdays. I think this would be a better idea and would have allowed us to achieve better work in the long term.

·       What did you struggle with? E.g. Texturing, modelling, lighting, animation

I found most aspects such as texturing and modelling generally simple but the animation was a challenge at first. When i first rendered it out i didn’t put enough frames in and it was very jumpy so i had to do all the animation again. This took me quite a long time to render and there wasn’t much time left before the deadline that it finished.

·       What did you find easy?

I found modelling the basic shapes and areas of Roberts park fairly simple as i could just walk 5 minutes down the road and i would be able to take a picture so i could model it from a picture to try get it as realistic as possible.

·       How does your finished design compare to professional examples?

I don’t think it is near professional standard but for the time restraints and problems i encountered along the way i feel i have done fairly well and i think you can tell it is Roberts park.

·       What do other people think of your finished design?

Other people think that my environments texturing around the outside of the environment was a little bit bad as you could tell that they were planes around the outside, this is the main aspect that i wasn’t very happy with, the rest of my environment was rated fairly well i think.

·       What could you improve upon?

I feel that i could improve on some of the texturing and making the outer edges of the environment look more realistic.

·       If you were to do it again what would you do differently next time?

If i was to do it again i would spend more time creating the outer edges of the environment to make it look realistic and not like there are a lot of planes placed around the outside of the environment.

·   It’s not about the finished product, it’s about the journey. What did you learn?

I learned that even if you are confident of your modelling ability if the textures don’t look right or there is a small problem with the texturing your modelling doesn’t look very effective at all.

Reflection Questions

·       What did you do and how did you do it?
I made the tuning sound for the start of Lewis radio, I used a monotron synthesiser to make the sound and i recorded it and put it into cubase where i added some effects such as a delay and a reverb. This allowed me to add it exacctly to where it was required at the start of lewis's radio voice over.

·       Does your final design meet your original intentions?
My original intentions were to make the radio tuning sound and help make a part of the dubstep sound track. I made the tuning sound but adam made a drum beat that we looped round for the remainder of the soundtrack.

·       Self evaluation – how did you manage your time? How could you manage your time more effectively?
I feel that i managed my time well but it could have been managed better. I think that if i planned it better a bit earlier then i could have done a bit more work on the audio part and maybe helped adam edit the soundtrack so it didnt get as repetative as it did towards the end.

·       What did you struggle with? Eg. Cubase, microphones, playing instruments, sound cards???
When i first started i struggled with cubase, where everything was but after a few hours on the program i knew most things about it and could do most things with ease. I didnt play any instruments because i have not much musical tallent.

·       What did you find easy?
I found most of the software and equipment fairly simple to use after a few hour practice and it was pretty simple to get used to.
·       How does your finished audio compare to professional examples? A sound track to a trailer
The final audio product started very profesionally i felt as it started by saying "PEGI 16" then going into a voice over but after a while in the trailer the drum beat came in and got very repetative towards the end the drum beat ruined the track and the trailer i felt.
·       What do other people think of your finished audio?
On the youtube trialer there are several comments commenting on the audio saying that the drum beat drowns out the narration/voice over and that it gets very repettative.
·       What could you improve upon?   If you were to do it again what would you do differently next time?
I feel that if if i was to do it again i would try improve on the drum beat so it was less repatative. I would make it so it changes slightly through the trailer and i also would make the volume of the drum beat a bit quieter so you could hear the voice over.
·       It’s not about the finished product, it’s about the journey. What did you learn?
I learned a lot about cubase and sound. I also learned about different types of microphones and equipment, overall this year i felt i have learned a lot and have enjoyed working in the sound studio.

my respectability for the trailer

Firstly the environment that i am making is Roberts park basic, the sound i have included is the tuning sound effect at the start of Lewis radio. My marketing contribution is the promotional splash screen. Alex Forbes is before me in the trailer then after me is Rob Briggs environment. the overall length of the trailer is is around 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

Final t shirt design we have chosen.

This is the final t shirt design
we all had a vote and have decided to vote for robs t shirt design.
It might cost more than the others but we felt that it was a better design and looked a lot more professional.
i like the "red hawk presents" on the front of the shirt
It looks professional as company's such as Rockstar use that to promote there games like in the image below.

game name graphics

Here are the five main games name graphics,
The bottom right one is mine, i have included a lion in the graphic as i am using the lions as the guardians of Titus. They protect him.
The middle bottom graphic is Lewis graphic, he has gone for the same layout as me but has used a different lion and a different font for the writing.
The bottom left is Adams graphic it is simple but quite effective the font is good as it is sort of like a egyption tomb kind of writing.
the top left is robs graphic, his is simple and effective i like what he has done with the red background effect.
the top right is Alexs logo, this is my personal favorite as i really like what he has done with the smoke effect.
we decided that Alexs logo was the best but we liked the idea of including a lion and the red background of robs.
Alex has then made these modifications and come up with this final design.

Enviroment

This is an environment i made. I started off by adding a displace modifier to a plane and making it look like grass. i then added some trees and bushes which are in the drop down box under AEC extended. Then i decided to put in a box gizmo across the floor and add a fog effect. i then did the same but just around the trees and added a fire effect. I then put a Geo-sphere around the whole scene and deleted the bottom half the top quarter and the front of it, i then flipped it and applied a sky texture in the background.
i then decided to try put a walk way in that included a wall and some stairs. i lined up the walkways and then rendered it and the picture above is the end product.

Back to 3d max

This is my lanscape using textures from photoshop and the displace tool. I first created a texture in photoshop using tools such as the liqify. I then put a plane in 3d max and applied a displace tool, i edited some of the features of it and made a mountian like landscape, I then applied the texture i made in photoshop onto the plane. i then applied a background and a sky texture to finnish it off.

planning my enviroment

These are my black and white and coloured versions my drawing. i was attempting to draw this picture

in the black and white picture i have used techniques such as crosshatching and shading. i have scribbled in some places roughly to show the effect of the trees and leaves.
in the colored piece i used 4 different types. i used pencil shading in one quater of the page, felt tips in another, pastels in another and then crayons in the last quater, i am generally happy with my work and have enjoyed experimenting with different types of art styles.
i have used A3 cartridge paper as the pastels needed thicker paper
this fits in with the teams trailer as it is roberts park and that is where we are doing
